Meet Your Maker

I started my first construction business in 2013 with $600 cash and DIY tools tarped onto a lawnmower trailer.

13 years later and I've built luxury treehouses, portable factories that build houses, custom tools, custom trailers, an unbelievable craftsman's portfolio, and most of all, irreplaceable friendships with some of the world's finest clients. I'm always looking for the next opportunity to build something that's never been built before.

Whatever it is you want made, I am happy to be your maker.

Starting From Scratch

My first 4 years in business, I spent learning the ropes of running a construction company. This was a very frustrating time, as the industry has a lot of failure baked into the formula. Less than 13% of sole proprietor construction companies make it past their 3rd year in business. Residential construction isn't known for being a very progressive, forward-thinking economic sector, but that's very much how my brain works- I'm a systems thinker, and I solve systemic problems at the systems level. Once I began to understand the kinds of problems I was up against, I began shifting into inventing solutions to the obstacles.

Solution #1: Jobsite Communications

The number one most frustrating part of any jobsite is the amount of time wasted on redundant communications. Trying to yell over tools and equipment, information dumping to tired workers, and the number of times I had to repeat myself were constantly demoralizing and demotivating me. I invented the Brain Bucket to solve these problems once and for all. Immediately my projects were being completed faster, we were having more fun, and efficiency was on the rise. My crew was also much safer from flying debris, loud noises, and bumping their heads. The Brain Bucket was a no-brainer.

Introducing: The Brain Bucket

Much more than just a safety helmet, the Brain Bucket is a proprietary jobsite data capture and labor analysis tool worn by workers to research and record the jobsite! It features a group intercom communication system, movement monitors, tactical lighting system, illuminated safety visor, impact-rated head protection, and video cameras providing instant quality control, seamless management of production processes, and more.

Solution 2: The Mobile Command Center

Mobile Construction Production Studio

We used tactical information from the Brain Bucket to fully optimize this 20' enclosed trailer into this hyper-efficient configuration.

As a result, every one of our clients now enjoy the benefits of this time and money-saving setup.

The mobile command center features off-grid power supply, onboard water storage with working sink, climate control, hardware library, all the tools needed for frame-to-finish construction, refrigerator and microwave, computer, video production studio, and the entire Brain Bucket jobsite data capture and labor analysis system.

Solution #3: Invent New Tools

What do you put inside a custom-built mobile workshop? Custom-built tools, of course! The Brain Bucket revealed countless opportunities for new tool inventions like this one:

The Bucket-All™: The Original Jobsite Water Feature

This original invention solves the ages-old problem of water logistics at the point-of-use. Tools like this increase productivity while saving clients money. It's a win-win!

Solution #4: Invent New Processes

Why stop at custom-built trailers and custom-built tools?

Why not invent entire building processes to solve the same kinds of systemic problems the homebuilding industry has always suffered from? So that's exactly what I did.

This video shows the RES process: Rapid Envelope System.

This prototype building method uses solar power on-location to produce indestructible houses for a fraction of the cost of wood-based buildings.

Solution #5: Invent a Branded Movement

I’ve used the Tool Hacker brand to push the skilled trades forward—leveraging social media to challenge norms, share discoveries openly, and advocate fiercely for women’s equal treatment on the jobsite. The Tool Hacker movement has sparked entrepreneurs to launch their own ventures, encouraged inventors to pursue bold ideas, and ignited overdue debate in building science about outdated methods still shaping our homes. Today, more tradespeople are proudly calling themselves “tool hackers”: jobsite problem‑solvers who blend tools, techniques, and materials in creative ways to keep modern life running.

Current project:

Solution #6: Invent Software That Repairs the Industry

Private equity and venture capital have captured the home services industry.

I'm inventing cooperative software to intercept.

Rapid Envelope System

Prototype Portable Home Building Factory

In 2021 The Tool Hacker Laboratories began working on a universal building formula-

One wall assembly design that would perform consistently in every climate zone.

The criteria for a winning formula:

1) Had to be a fully automated manufacturing process

2) Had to be able to run off-grid

3) Had to be simplified down to a rudimentary, non-skilled labor process

4) Had to be able to be disassembled, relocated, and reconstructed

5) Had to assemble to produce a disaster-proof structure

6) Had to be cheaper to operate than conventional wood-based construction
